An evaluation on the effectiveness of accounts receivable management systems: a case study of coloursell furniture in Kadoma (August 2012- August 2013)

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of accounts receivable management systems of Coloursell Furnitures in Kadoma for the period August 2012 to August 2013. The research was carried out against the background of poor management of accounts receivable systems and policies. The research was to establish policies that will improve the accounts receivable policies at Coloursell Furnitures. The methodology used by the researcher included both interviews and questionnaires to gather primary data. Research questions and objectives were satisfied by administering those research instruments. Secondary data was obtained from the company documents, manuals, reports and some text books. A sample of 20 respondents was selected using the simple random sampling from a population with 34 subjects. Findings were presented in the form of tables, graphs and pie charts. Findings were that, the accounts receivables management policy is ineffective evidenced from the results acquired from respondents. The recommendations were that, the company should implement effective accounts receivable management policies such as employment of a stringent credit policy.
